Lauren Michelle Kelly is UNBELIEVABLE~!
Upon arriving to collect my tickets, the balcony was closed off, and I was upgraded to a second row Mezzanine seat, fulfilling my desired seating arrangement that I couldn't initially afford. The cast, including the "Banks" Children, worked harmoniously together. The play deviated from the movie at times, but that didn't bother me. Laura Michelle Kelly portrayed KT Tunstall, a name I was unfamiliar with but will now always remember. The music was fantastic, prompting me to purchase the album on iTunes as soon as I got home. I was delighted with my seats, setting the stage for an excellent evening. I discovered before the show started that the London Cast would be performing instead of the NYC performers, which was an unexpected treat since the show originated in London. The entire show, lasting over 2 hours, passed by quickly, leaving me wanting more. The sets and costumes were magical. It made me reminisce about my childhood, wishing KT Tunstall was my Nanny. One gripe I had was the presence of a disruptive 2/3 year old behind me, but despite the distractions, the show captivated me. I can't help but wonder if I would have enjoyed it as much with the NYC cast members. This play has now become my favorite Broadway production, surpassing the likes of Lion King, Phantom of the Opera, Beauty and the Beast, Hairspray, and Thoroughly Modern Millie. Parents should consider leaving their very young children at home to avoid disturbances during shows.
